Macheo believes that Parents, carers and families are by far the most important influences in a child’s life. Their support can play a vital role at all stages of education and children can achieve well at school when their parents/guardians and relatives take an interest in their school and schoolwork. When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more. That’s why we carry out activities like home visiting programs that focus on supporting families at home with tough challenges to improve child outcomes in schools. During the home visits parents/guardians are encouraged and empowered with skills to support their children’s development.
Help is also given to parents/guardians lacking good parenting skills and dealing with issues. Enhancement of good parenting skills offers students the best possible learning experiences and opportunities, in school, at home, and in community settings. It is therefore essential that every effort be made to ensure that ongoing and effective communication and partnerships be established and maintained with parents. Getting parents/guardians to be involved in their children’s education, even in the simplest way, shows that they care about their school life. Often, the more supported a child feels at home, the more effectively she or he will learn at school.
We are grateful to our partners for their continued support.
