The ability for children to see things from others viewpoint is essential for their growth and competence. Without this ability, children remain self-centered and unable to relate to the interests, needs, and rights of others. Children need a shared social experience that provides the opportunity for them to encounter and explore things in a different setting. Until children can be given the opportunity to put into consideration the viewpoint of other children, they cannot make progress in reasoning about fairness. When they can only see their own views, their idea of justice consists of that which they desire for themselves.

Macheo believes that children can explore their interests, realize their potential, cultivate positive attitudes, live mindfully and become conscious participants in the creation of their own lives. In partnership with Join for Joy, we organize camps for children so that they can explore in meaningful way. By coming into direct contact with a different environment or even a new culture or language, students can better understand their place in the community and develop openness to differences in others. During the camps children are taught essential life skills to help them deal with everyday situations, stress, challenges and team work. The camp helps them build awareness, tolerance, optimism and self-confidence.

We continue thanking our partners Join for Joy for their continued support.
