Sport is a common language that can be understood by many children. It is a powerful tool that can help in breaking down many barriers and also help children feel good about themselves, both physically and mentally. Sport is quite beneficial to children, by playing sports children develop physical skills, exercise, make new friends, have fun, learn to be a team member, learn about play fair and improve self-esteem. They also develop social skills, learn to express their emotions, and gain confidence about their own capabilities. For many children, however, the chance to learn and grow through sport and play is unavailable, robbing them of some of the most important experiences of childhood.

Macheo Children’s Centre is committed to creating positive social change around children many of whom have no perspective. We help children get active, so they can have healthier, happier and more successful lives. We bring inspiration to the schools and communities where we work and play. We sensitize parents and teachers on the importance of play and in most cases directly intervene by providing sports and games materials, equipment and personnel to help implement games and sports. Children are provided with age-appropriate toys to play with. We sensitize teachers to allow children to play at the stipulated Physical Education and Games lessons.

We are so grateful to our partners Join for Joy for their support to ensure children are engaged to tackle some of the biggest challenges children face through sports.
